Season Information

August 11, 2009

To: 2009 Elk River High School Girls Soccer Players and Parents

From: ERHS Girls Soccer Booster Club

Welcome to another year of girls soccer at Elk River High School!

For those of you new to the program, this letter will give you some information so you know what to expect for the upcoming season. We plan on a fun and successful soccer season with all of your help and assistance.

Sports Registration and the Parent/Player Meeting held tonight, Tuesday, August 11:

  • 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. ISD 728 sports registration in the commons area of the High School
  • 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Parent/Player Meeting with Coach Steuter in Zabee Theater
Coach Steuter will address parents at the Parent/Player Meeting and go over his expectations for the upcoming season. The Booster Club will be on hand to address any questions you may have on any of the information provided in this letter.

As you are probably aware, there is a school sport fee for participating in soccer at ERHS. This year the fees are $180 for grade 9, and $230 for grades 10 -12, made payable to ISD #728 the night of registration in the commons area.

In addition, the ERHS Girls Soccer Booster Club supports the teams by paying for:

  • B-Squad coach salary (like other high school sports)
  • Equipment, balls and practice jerseys
  • Regulation socks and shorts
  • Coaches’ shirts and gear
  • Banquet dinner for players at end of season

The Booster Club also coordinates activities such as:

  • Ordering team warm-ups and sweats
  • Pre-game, halftime, post-game activities (music for National Anthems, Parent’s Day, Kids Day and Senior Night)
  • Pasta Dinners every Wednesday during the season
  • Jimmy Johns Sandwiches before games in Coach Stueter’s classroom
  • Post-season Teams Banquet at The Links of Northfolk (Sunday, November 1, 2009)
  • Coordinating with JV, B-Squad, and 9th grade captains and their parent liaisons

A majority of Booster Club expenses are paid through fundraisers. As in past years, we plan to sell coupon cards in the late summer, as this has proven to be very successful for the club. We are also in the process of putting together a game program with the ERHS Boys Soccer Booster Club. These programs are handed out at home games and feature ads from business owners around the Elk River/Rogers/Zimmerman area. The remaining Booster Club expenses are paid by Booster Club fees. The Booster fee will be $75 per player.

Each year the Booster Club asks parents, or family members, to volunteer in some capacity to ensure a fun and successful season. A $75 refundable volunteer check is collected and once you have volunteered, your $75 check is returned/shredded at the end of the season. There are many opportunities to sign up for and get to know other parents and families.

Our pink postcard endeavor was very successful in that we already have enough pasta dinner hosts for the six Wednesday evenings; some concession stand workers for the eight home games; and some ball persons/kids. Other opportunities you can consider as a way to help out are:

  • Concession Stand Workers – we still need a few
  • Ball persons/kids – need a few more for so we have 6 for each home game
  • Announcers for the eight home games (August 27, Sept 12, Sept 14, Sept 22, Sept 26, Sept 29, October 3, and October 8)
  • Post-season banquet support (decorations, set-up, centerpieces, etc.)
  • Video photographers for Varsity games (videotape for incorporating into a CD to be presented at banquet)
  • Photographers for each team

  • (NOTE: free admission to varsity games for those who volunteer as concession stand workers, photographers, announcers, and ball persons)

We have covered a lot of information in this letter and hopefully you find it very helpful. With that said we are going to ask that you submit your $75 Booster Fee, made payable to the Elk River Girls Soccer Booster Club, and your $75 refundable volunteer check, made payable to the Elk River Girls Soccer Booster Club tonight out in the Theater Commons area.

New this year we will be ordering warm-ups, sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and some other items through a website where the players and parents can order online and make payment via credit card. A presentation by Erik Otto will be done this evening and the website address is:
